Lake County Economic Development Strategy Underway

Over the past few months, Lakes County Partners (LCP) has been leading a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) project for the purpose of creating an economic roadmap for the future of Lake County.

LCP and its consultant RKG Associates Inc. have used a variety of resources to gather information about Lake County’s current and future economy. These resources include input from the Strategy Committee that is guiding the CEDS, research by LCP and RKG, insights from focus groups, individual stakeholder interviews, and surveys intended for business and governmental leaders. The surveys are currently “live” on LCP’s website, .

The CEDS project, partially funded by a grant from the U. S. Economic Development Administration, will produce an implementable strategy tailored to the needs of Lake County and will play a significant role in shaping its future economic direction. The strategy will allow Lake County to continue to meet the challenges of its global economy.

As home to ten Fortune 500 headquarters, as well as almost 30,000 acres of forest preserves, Lake County has a distinct economic identity which includes being a bio-pharmaceutical center of excellence, the location of choice for corporate headquarters, an advanced manufacturing and distribution center, and a talent rich financial services location. It has a diverse socio-economic character, and a delicate balance between rural lakeside retreats and thriving commercial centers.
